How online OCD therapy begins

You do not need a perfect explanation of your symptoms before getting in touch. The first steps are designed to understand the difficulty, check whether online therapy is suitable and agree a clear plan.

Online sessions in English · 50 minutes · Advance booking

The first assessment explores your concerns, daily life and goals before a treatment plan is agreed. Illustrative consultation.

1. Send a brief enquiry

Include your name, country, time zone and a short reason for seeking support. If enquiring for an adolescent, include their age and your relationship to them. Please avoid sending a detailed clinical history or highly sensitive material in the first email or WhatsApp message.

2. Confirm practical arrangements

Availability, fees, appointment time and video arrangements are confirmed directly. Sessions last 50 minutes and must be booked in advance. Location eligibility and consent arrangements are checked before therapy starts.

3. Attend an assessment

We discuss obsessions, visible and mental compulsions, avoidance, reassurance, previous support and the effect on your life. Assessment also considers other difficulties and safety needs. It is a conversation aimed at understanding the whole picture, rather than deciding a diagnosis from a checklist alone.

4. Agree goals and a treatment plan

We discuss whether OCD is a useful explanation, what may be maintaining the pattern and what support fits your needs. If CBT with ERP is appropriate, we identify goals and a workable starting point. If another assessment or service is needed, that is part of the discussion.

5. Review progress together

Frequency and duration depend on your circumstances. We review what is helping, what is difficult and whether the plan needs to change. Between-session practice, when agreed, is linked to your goals rather than used as a test of willpower.

If you need urgent help

Online enquiries are not an emergency service. If you have an immediate intention to harm yourself or someone else, or cannot remain safe, contact local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.

Frequently asked questions
